I have an inexpensive 8mgp dig cam and video cam combo.

It has a dust speck (not in the lens) that shows up on EVERY pic and it's almost smack in the middle.

I'm going to have to go in and operate myself, I can't afford to have it done.

Tips, Info, Warnings, Anything please- I can't stand the spot anymore!!!!

Thanks in advance

( I have read some about it being a common prob and it being in the dsr, dls, srd or something- and I have to take it apart blah blah blah.

I've had 3 kids- so with a little guidance, I think I can do this smile

I personally would not do it myself. I would not want to risk damaging the camera.

its probably on your sensor. You don't give the make and model so judging just by what you told us I doubt the lens is removable to try blowing out the dust on the mirror or sensor. Opening your type of camera will definitely damage it and even with better cameras one must be very careful. Since its a cheapie repalce it with a another cheapie. 8mgp are cheaper than reapairing them. Your camera is not meant for opening.

Have your tried contacting the mfgr, is it still under warranty?

Suzanne,

I must agree with the other advice you've received. Do not attempt to open up the camera to clean it yourself. You'd be more certain to damage the camera further, you won't be able to do the operation under factory conditions and therefore risk contaminating the camera further with more dust and specks. You'll also be breaking any warranties that maybe left on the camera by opening it up.

If you can, why not take your camera to a local camera shop to ask for their advice, they'll be able to have a quick look over the camera and might prove very helpful in this respect.

Why not post a pic of the problem you're having and the make and model of your camera, so we can try and advise you further smile
