Here is the ethical question for today:

You've been asked to help with a particular project - Project A. Feeling honored, you graciously agree to help out and make a commitment in time and energy for a project that would take 6 months. The announcement has been made to the entire company and everyone is ready to get started.

You're approached by a popular person within the organization that asks you to help on her on project B.

Knowing that helping on project B would be running at the same time, but give you more visability within the organization and MAY lead to other great projects - what would you do?

Would you honor the first commitment you made to project A? Or would you say - the heck with it, they'll understand and go with project B

fishDepends on whether the person (Project B) could guarantee me having a job (lol). This is not the time to "test" how much you are needed. Project A for me.

There's been a commitment made to Project A, and presumably a lot of people counting on you, so you have to honor that.

In reality, what I'd actually do, is give my full attention to Project A, but then see if there's any small way I could help on Project B.

Angela...too funny lady!!!

I would help with Project A and hope that Project B will come along again at a later time. I would definitely let project b know that I was interested but had made a prior commitment that I needed to honor. That might garner some points.

I feel bad about it just thinking about it but if I am guaranteed more success I would say to the first person that I am sorry and help the second.
