As the weather here in ATL cools down to the mid 80's, I've decided to embrace something new. I'm going to join the 50 mile club. I'll post to this forum each day that I walk. My goal for now will be 1 mile per day. I get up very early in the morning and was thinking about doing it anyway. So, here goes.....

Hi Di, thanks for joining and look forward to seeing your progress. So you live in Atlanta, Georgia! I am from Phenix City, Alabama and temporarily here in Orlando, Florida for a temporary job. What are your thoughts on income sources for the Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama area? Thanks!

Angela, I'm going to join the 50 mile club. It might keep me motivated to do measured walking as well as the other things I do. Sometimes, like when I watched my grandson I slacked off with measured walking because I was running after him. Walking for exercise is different than daily routine walking...so here I am. And I will keep posting in my thread How would you like our progress charted? Daily or weekly?

Your Welcome Angela. Thank you! I need to do this. I plan to walk 2 miles this morning.

As for the income sources in this area, are you referring to employment in this area?

Hi Granny, whatever you guys have time for. With you being on the board DAILY (lol, and thank you), you may want to keep a running total and just add as you go. I realize some days you may not walk (yes, we human/lol). Then come December 31st, we can see what everyone that is participating has? This work? I want the whole process to be FUN!

Great Deanna:

On this site, we are family, very relaxed and no rules or drama so with this said, keep track of your miles the way that works for you. Then on December 31st, we will get everyone's total to see how they did. 50 miles was just a number to have a number (lol). Glad to have on board! Way to go......

I don't mind...I'll help. Now I'm getting a bit confused. I will post my walking total here from now on not the Linda 50 mile thread. I get so mixed up sometimes. I'll start with tomorrows walking distance. I've already got 7 miles toward the 50.

Woohoo another walking sister. One mile a day around the neighborhood is good. That's all I do. The journey of 50 miles starts with the first step. smile

Thanks Walking Granny & Angela! I'm trying. I'm thinking about going out to walk 1 mile now, before it gets too hot here in ATL.

fishDi, you doing GREAT - keep us posted and be CAREFUL with that heat.

My boyfriend who works in Columbus, Georgia is "dying" from the heat as he has to catch the bus to work and walk from the stop to the store. He usually gets a ride back home, thank goodness, as the buses stop running before he gets off work. Is Atlanta the same as Columbus with them both being in Georgia? Any suggestions as to some "possible" income sources for Columbus? I may end up in Atlanta if I cannot figure out something and coming home on my days off. I hear alot of people do that. Of course we would have to get a "reliable" (nothing fancy) for me to be able to do this. But I am looking at my "options" between now and December as I am so "homesick" and need to get back in December to Phenix City, Alabama. I am in Orlando, Florida with my daugher and her roommate as of July this year for a part-time temporary "office assistant" job for a professor at the local university that is suppose to end this December. Thanks Di for any feedback you can pass my way about Georgia. Yes, the job sites do list jobs, but it is also good to back that up with info from people that LIVE there (lol).

OK, got to join the club. I said I'd join the Walking Club way back when you started--and although didn't report, it did help to keep me motivated.

I remember ages ago when 50-mile hikes were a silly fad. Yes, I really DO mean all at once! cry

I'll start from Monday, but I don't need motivation to do a mile. The only way I could walk less than a mile in a day is pretty much not to leave the house! I don't drive in London and a mile gets me to school, catching public transport.

Monday: 3.5 miles down
46.5 to go

Well done, guys! If you can do it daily, that's great!

I managed to leave my pedometer behind today. Duh! Changed clothes, but didn't transfer the counting machine. But it was pretty much the same as yesterday.

So 3.5 miles
43 to go

Got distracted there, but I'm still walking.

On September 16th, I walked 5 miles and ended up in the hospital for six days.

The two events above are completely unconnected. The hospital visit was for tests.

So 39.5 - 5 = 34.5 to go. Will have to get out my notebook for the rest.

What's happened to the rest of you? I was expecting to see lots of your stories accumulating while I was away and catching up on my own forum.

As of yesterday, I completed my fifty miles. Do I get a gold star?

And where are the rest of you? I hope you're keeping it up the walking. Sometimes I don't want to move, but I feel so much better when I get around regularly.

Hang in there.

Mona, a bit LATE but CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for taking part in this project. You are just awesome.....

I plan on keeping an eye on this forum until they find someone else to pick up the slack. I just don't have the time anymore that is required to be a Bellaonline editor frown
