I have a pattern that makes 3 different sizes. I want to make the small size 1st, but I don't want to butcher my pattern. How can I make the small size and still make the larger size later?

I use patterns like this, I lay them out, lift the pattern slightly and cut the material only trying to follow the line. That way I save the integrity of all sizes. It's worked out well so far.

I trace multi-sized patterns with tissue paper (or if I'm planning to use it multiple times, they sell an interfacing like product for this, or I'll use carbon to copy it onto brown packaging paper or grocery bags.)

Also, you can cut out the large size and trace it onto brown paper, then cut it down to the smaller size(s) and do the same.

Finally, you can just use the pattern with dressmaker's carbon directly on the fabric.

I use transparent tracing paper and trace the size I want to use. Since I make costumes for lots of people, I almost never cut up a pattern if I don't have to.

I trace the pattern size I want or trace all sizes just depends how I feel.
