One of my challenges is to deal with the piles and piles of review books I have in the house. I have a very high Amazon ranking so I get deluged with books to review, even though I actively ask people to not send them to me. I ask publishers etc. to please contact BellaOnline editors first and see if they would like them.

I have made progress through my book piles but I still have many piles left. I write to editors and ask them if they'd like certain titles that fit into their topic area. Sometimes it is several weeks to a month before I hear back from them with a yes or no. So then if they say no I have to start again with another editor.

Maybe what I need to do is set a time limit on my offer? Something like "please write me back within 2 weeks if you'd like me to send this to you, otherwise I'll assume you don't want it and move on to another editor"?

Yes. As with most things, a deadline and rationale is important. Otherwise ppl do not know they are making things tough for you, and there is also no sense of urgency to get back to you.

For example, for me it's really easy for an email to get buried - sometimes in a matter of days. So unless i deal with something right away, i might put it in the *to do eventually* pile.

I'd be interested in any books on any subject as long as they are written by African American writers.

Dianne -

Usually there's no way of knowing that - few of the books have photos in them, and they don't make other mention of the author's background in that sense. I'll keep that in mind though!
