Jeff Bridges is reprising John Wayne's role as Rooster Cogburn in the remake of True Grit and Matt Damon will be playing the role as Le Bouf, Glen Campbell's role in the classic western.

As much as I hate to see movies like this re-done, I think Bridges will do a good job. The movie opens on Christmas Day this year.

Another classic to be ruined by a remake.

I tend to agree with you, Craig. However, I am going to reserve judgement until I see it. I am intrigued by Jeff Bridges playing Rooster Cogburn.

Gosh I said the same thing when I heard they were going to redo! aw shucks there goes another. But I do like the Bridges thing it could work! But I will view it most likely as a new movie~ no one can hold a candle to John Wayne and the stellar cast in that movie! Just my opinion.

I completely agree with your opinion Mary. However, James Arness (MattDillon from Gunsmoke) did an outstanding role in reprising the John Wayne role in the movie "Red River" some years back.

AH you dug up another James Arness My mother was in love with him~ he was a "bigger than life" John Wayne-ish figure with that certain rough and tumble look~

So I will agree with you that he was close.
