I discovered today, while cleaning chicken breasts for the freezer, my cats love raw chicken. I gave them each a few bites, but not enough for a feeding. I've read so many places that a raw diet is food for them, but I'm a bit skeptical because of all the hype about salmonella. Any thoughts on this? I don't plan to feed them raw chicken every day or inplace of cat food, but as a treat it might be nice. Just a note...they didn't like the pieces with fat...only the lean part.

Raw anything is not good for cats unless it's a fresh kill that they have made. Uncooked food is a sure fire way to end up with a sick cat. Cats will love roasted chicken meat just as well.

Confirmed my suspicions....no more raw chicken.

All I have fed my cats for about the past 2 years is raw meat and raw milk. They normally eat turkey burger and chicken livers. They also love chicken, fish, steak, burgers, etc. My cats are beautiful, sleek, and healthy.

My cats LOVE LOVE LOVE roasted and grilled chicken. They go crazy over it. I would never feed them raw chicken unless I knew where it came from and when it was prepared.

Milk is not good for your cats though. I was told definately not to give it to them on a regular basis.

My cats exclusively eat raw food; including chicken, turkey, duck, beef, etc (whole ground carcasses). My cats have never had trouble with illnesses, digestability, hairballs, vomiting, diahrrea, tartar, or any other disease or ailment. My cats are nearing ten years old, and visit the vet every year for a general check up. I'd very much recommend adding whole raw prey (ground, or otherwise) to most cat's diet.

may rethink the raw chicken...they don't like it cooked. And for them it's only a treat once in a while.
