Each year many of us send our precious bundles off to their first day of school. I remember my daughter's first day of kindergarten with her pink jeans, pink shirt, pink bag pack, pink bows in her hair (white sneakers - I could only do so much pink...lol...hard to believe I'm dropping her off for her freshman year of college on Saturday)

I took that the first day off and took a ton of pictures, dropped her off and picked her up. My last child didn't get the same treatment on his first day of kindergarden all those years ago. Now that I work so close to home, I've been here when they have left for school and back 30 minutes after they got home, I still sometimes take off the first day of school as a special day.

How many other parents out there take off the first day of school?

How does your employer handle the shortage?

I use to when my daughter was in kindergarton (she is now 23), but as she got older and did not want me "hanging" around (lol) - I did not. Some kids need you there holding their hands and some do not. My only child got very INDEPENDENT by 1st grade = hurt my feelings = I had been fired..... Great post!
