My Aunt Edna was my SPECIAL lady that made time for me as a child no matter how busy she was and how unhappy her marriage was.

Interesting list! Where did these names come from? (What's the source?)

Hi Nancy, I am from Jamaica and names get passed around quite a bit. While some may be used in other countries, we tend to stick to a certain selection. Thanks for asking! easter

That's so interesting! I've been blogging about baby names for years and a few of these I don't think I've ever seen before.

Do you have any idea where Eldece, Mardrea and Sevatheda come from? Or what the inspiration behind Ladyblossom is?

(I'd love to know more about the local tradition behind any of the names, actually--these four just happened to catch my eye.)

fishHi Nancy:

When I get some FREE (lol/don't hold your breath on that) time, I will look up the history of the names you mentioned. Keep in mind that during slavery times, alot of names were created for "personal" reasons - documentation was not kept, but it was passed from generation to generation.

My grandma will be 102 this December, so I will try to get word to her to see if she has any info for you. The generations like myself did not really get into that type info, but I am sure her generation did. She still lives in the same house she was married in at age 21 and refuses to move (lol). But alot of family go back to check on her and I will send a letter with the next one that is going. The last time I saw her was when my only child now 23 was born. She came up to see us. That was the last time I saw her due to her not being able to travel and me not being able to afford to travel (lol). But my daughter has been back a few times.

Thanks for posting - always GREAT hearing from you!
