Avenues for help when you can't afford a diagnosis or therapy? Anyone have some experience? In the UK, if someone needs a diagnosis, treatment or therapy, it starts with a visit to their family doctor ( General Practitioner or GP). The GP then refers you to one or more specialists and you are looked after for as long as you need the help. All this is free on the 'National Health Service'. Are there really no free Health or Rehabilitation services in the US? (JOY)

In Nevada there is the Nevada State Mental Health Hospital. One can make an appointment to discuss their issues and finances. There are programs available which are free, provide counseling and psychiatric help, and medications - all free if finances are tight. For Arizona, a good place to begin your inquiries may be at the following link: Arizona State Mental Health Agency Or - Arizona Mental Health Services Hope this helps.

Thanks for the links, guys. Joy, we are pretty much on our own here.
Anyone else have other experiences? This isn't necessarily about me.

We have a rape/crisis center here and you can see a therapist for free. That might be something for them to check in to.

Well, i found a walk-in clinic in one of the nearby towns around here. It's $55 for a visit when you don't have insurance. So i was able to get some meds. This is a good first step.
