Life in Germany can be very ordered and disciplined, however, as with everywhere, sometimes things happen to throw that way of life into a spin, as it has during this week.

Having recently visited the region of Germany that is currently celebrating being the Cultural Capital of Europe 2010, the Ruhr, was writing up an article when the celebrations there were overshadowed by heartbreak.

The details are on the BellaOnline German Culture page, and the questions now being asked are; should mass music festivals be more rigorously organised, banned or heavily policed?

Hi all, its sad what happened here, i almost think they should do away with the Love Parade. Even in Berlin it made for problems every year and i find that not good. It unfortunately gets to wild and out of hand, the people mass is just to much. Which ever city it may be in.

Yes you are right it is sad, and because of what happened it does seem that there will be no further Love Parades in Germany.

Meanwhile, for the moment at least, no one is willing to take responsibility for what happened.

It started with such idealism, at a time when Berlin was still divided, and it is a shame that it should come to an end in this terrible way.

The circumstances that brought about its inspiration changed and perhaps, as it continued, it not only outgrew the original reason behind it but also outgrew a size that was easily manageable, and so less dangerous for all those taking part.
