What is your favorite season?
My favorite season is autumn. grin

Do the seasons affect your moods/depression? If so, how?
I get so happy when the temperature starts to cool and the leaves start to turn! I'm almost like a different person! I don't like it when the time changes and the days get so short, but I'll take that over long, 90+ eek degree days anytime!

Since no one else has commented on this, I'll comment on it myself.

As I said in the original post, I love it when the temperatures cool off and the leaves change, AND WHEN FOOTBALL STARTS! ROLL TIDE! : )

However, when all the Halloween stuff comes out and all the horror/scary movies come on, it affects me spiritually. I feel more depressed because I get drawn into the darkness. Always on November 1st, I feel like a different person, tho'. I feel like a weight has been lifted off me.

Does anyone else experience anything like that?

I love autumn as well - however - Halloween is one of my favorite times of year.

The other seasons are alright - winter is odd as I am in Florida. I grew up in snow country (Watertown, NY area) and have been here more than in NY...but have been getting sooo homesick, even when I know it is 10 below zero...??

Spring is the one season that I could actually care less about.

Hi, Robin--

What part of Florida are you in? I lived in Pensacola for 4 years, but we still had winter there. It didn't get severely cold, but it got into the 40s at night and a few times a year, it got into the 30s. I missed the snow, tho'. We don't get a lot of snow here in NW Alabama, but that's okay. I don't think I'd like shoveling snow! My back couldn't handle that!

Usually by the time it gets really cold here, I'm putting up my Christmas tree. I put it up early--usually around mid-November--because I love it so much and because it's such a huge job, I want to be able to enjoy it for as long as possible!

Thanks for your post! I've been getting lonely in here! smile

Would the following make for a good opening paragraph for story. Wayne could no longer ignore the racket developing in the hallway outside his room and he was eventually forced to open his eyes. Both his eyes were underneath webs of blood-red veins and were both quite sensitive, they were both puffed below and had black circles around them. Clearly he had not rested sufficiently. how can I improve this paragraph and is it an acceptable opening paragraph.

Oh by the way I think all seasons have got something different to offer. I essentially know of only two seasons: Summer and Winter. Where I live Summer provides shelter from the cold Winter nights and Winter provides relieve from the boiling hot Summer Sun.

Land O Lakes is a couple of towns above Tampa. St. Augustine, possibly Melbourne or Cedar Key-ish are places I think about moving to.....

I THINK IT WOULD BE A GREAT OPENING PARAGRAPH FOR A STORY & I WOULD CHANGE IT ONLY AS FOLLOWS:

Wayne could no longer ignore the racket developing in the hallway outside his room. He was eventually forced to open his eyes, which were both colored by webs of blood-red capillaries, and were quite sensitive. They were both puffy below and had black circles around them. Clearly, he had not rested sufficiently.

I'm not sure why you asked my opinion on your opening paragraph, but I hope my suggestions are helpful to you. smile

Yeah, I love the beautiful leaves and the cool weather. My birthday is the middle of November, but I don't exactly look forward to it the way I used to! LOL!

As for Halloween, I used to love it, too. After learning about the Satanic rituals performed on that night, including animal sacrifices, I just can't think of it the same anymore. It's my own personal spiritual battle--not judging or trying to change anyone else. But I do understand.

I also like Autumn
With all the different colors of the leaves, it's so pretty
And the cooler temperatures
Wish it could be Autumn all year round

I wish it could be Autumn all year, too. I do like the changes, tho'. I even like a thunderstorm every once in a while, as long as it doesn't get severe. It's not fun going to the EMA office (which is underground) to hide from tornadoes in the middle of the night, I'll tell ya!

WOOHOO!! It is now officially my favorite season! Highs in the 70s and lower 80s, with lows in the 40s & 50s! Makes me so happy! Not to mention the beginning of "candy season" is just around the corner! smile

Leaves are turning and falling...
So pretty. smile

Yeah, I have fall allergies, too, Connie. They aren't as bad as my spring ones, tho'. I just take some Claritin D & enjoy. smile

As for the candy season thing--only problem there is the pounds that come along with candy season! LOL! I used to be able to get away with a lot of that, but now I pay for it!

Lisa, we don't have much of a spring OR fall here. It seems to go from scorching hot to cold, and back to hot again. Spring would be wonderful except for the allergies, wasps, and heat! LOL! No, I just hate summer, so when spring gets here, it's practically summer already, and I can't enjoy it. But if it lasted a while, and I wasn't allergic to it (lol!), and if all the stinging creatures would go away, I'd love it! smile

Hey, Jilly! Sounds like you might be a SAD sufferer. I just added my article on Seasonal Affective Disorder. You might want to check it out. (I wrote it a couple of months ago, but saved it for now, when those symptoms are beginning, or are right around the corner.)

Hi, Debra! Welcome to the forum!

So you like rainy season? Good for you. I can't say that I like a lot of rain, but a good thunderstorm every once in a while is kinda nice. smile

Hi, Connie!

No, I'm pretty sure I'm still in Alabama! LOL! So you don't have the awesome mild weather, either? Ya know, I remember when I was a kid, we started school the day after Labor Day, and we were wearing corduroy, long sleeves, and a jacket in the morning! Now, Labor Day is scorching hot!

Yeah, as much as I love the fall, it doesn't last long. For instance, we had about a week of mild weather, and then it went back up into the 90s again over the weekend! And before that mild week, we had a record high of 97!! The next week is supposed to be nice, tho'. Highs in the 70s and low 80s. But it won't last long enough to get used to. It'll be cold before you know it! But that's okay--I'll take cold weather any day over high humidity and 90+ degree weather!! It's like I always say--if you're cold, you can add layers and cover up, but when it's hot, even if you're naked, you're gonna be miserable! smile

Yep, sound just like our weather. Maybe a nice week of cooler temps and we have had more heat. Usually we do have a nice week in the spring and the fall and then back to either cold or heat!

Kitten I do get SAD. In Seattle it was pronounced. Here in AZ i am good. Lots of sun. I do miss the leaves when they fall though. A bare tree is a sad tree IMO. It makes me melancholy even if it's sunny out.

Connie - is OK really like that? Hot to cold? Is there ever nice weather for a spell?

I don't know about OK, Jilly, but I can testify to it in Alabama. We have very little mild weather. It's a bummer.

And I agree--naked trees are sad.

Yeah, I've heard about Seattle weather, and I know I couldn't handle it. It's no wonder the suicide rate is so high!

Jilly, maybe a week or two of really nice temps inbetween winter and summer. Seems like it is either blistering heat or freezing cold!
