Sittin' on the back porch today
I'll be sittin' when the evening comes
Watchin' the rain wash away
The dust and bad air that looms

Watchin' ol' rooster run in vain
He got locked out of the coop
Then I watch him run around again
Wet feathers so tangled they droop

Hi Phyllis.....figured I'd come onto the back porch for a change. I see we are still talking about that foolish ole rooster who is too busy pokin around in everybody else's business instead of watchin out for himself and taking cover in a storm. Maybe the hens are happy to get a break from him....

Cloudy today. We've got rain coming in.

I see I missed out on the apple pie. Next time you've got pie on the porch I will be right over. Nothing like a nice piece of warm pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting on top of it.....

I think rooster will get inside in time tonight, before the rains hit.

I made the best navy bean and ham soup yesterday. I took it over to my brother's for supper and we ate the whole pot of beans. It was so good. Then we went outside and I watched as he planted a beautiful rose bush for Mother. I helped him clean up the extra dirt and sod he dug up. It looks so pretty. The rose is a lovely pink with a touch of pale lavender and is very fragrant.

I think that is a lovely thing to do for your mother. It sounds like a beautiful bush. May it bring you both many years of joy. <3

Thank you, Jilly. We know Mother would love it. She used to sit out by the front porch and watch my brother work in the yard and that was so enjoyable for the two of them. So, I now sit out there and get up to help Brother once in awhile. It makes him feel less lonely for Mother.

The bush is loaded with blooms and looks so pretty. I should take a picture to put here.

Phyllis....the rose bush sounds lovely. What a beautiful way to honor your Mother. I think looking at the beauty of the bush, and enjoying the fragrant blooms will bring you much comfort. It will be a living reminder of your dear Mother.

I love all roses, especially fragrant ones. I hope to have roses again in my yard some day.

It smells wonderful, Jilly. The fragrance drifts all over the yard and the blooms are so big and pretty.
