Each night for the past 5 days I have been getting nose bleeds. They only last about 10 minutes, but they have a pretty heavy flow. Whats odd is that I got my nose pierced with a nose ring about 5 weeks ago, and nothing strange has happened until now. The only reason why I am questioning it is that I just got a nose bleed while taking a shower in the morning, and I do not want this to become something that happens twice daily. So, before I decide to go to the doctor, I just want to make sure this has no relation to my nose piercing. (it also only comes out of the nostril that I got my nose pierced on.)

If this happened to me, I'd take a que-tip (sp) and see as centered as I could get it, if I could tell where the blood source was coming from. Meaning, from the side (vessles) or further up around the bridge of the nose.

Have you ever had nose bleeds like that before, heavy? It could be somehting unrelated or possibly something where, once you got the piercing it may have cut into a normal flow of some other vessle which in turn ruptured. If it's something simple like that, it should clear up, but it couldn't hurt just to phone the on-call nurse at your doctor's to see if you should come in.

Right now my husband has terrible allergies and certain times of the year cause him to have nose bleeds.

Hmm, it feels as though it is coming from further up my nose, it definitely does not come from the place where my piercing is. I'm pretty sure this is the first nose bleed that I have had since I was a child, so it definitely isn't normal for me. If it is from allergies or the weather than I don't have any other symptoms, and my nose is not sore and does not feel dry at all. Yeah, I might call up my doctor and see if she can tell me off hand if anything is wrong so I won't have to come in. I don't think a nose bleed could be anything serious though, right?

Nose piercings might bleed slightly at the piercing site, but if you are having nose bleeds with heavy flow from inside the nose, the cause is something else.
