So often people are now taking jobs just to pay the bills. The problem is that they are taking jobs only to find out that they hate it after a couple of months. In some cases after just a couple of days.
Has this ever happened to you? What did you do?

That's a great question, Dianne!
I am a strong proponent of doing serious research into a company before joining it - but I also understand that all the research in the world might not reveal certain problems.
Back when I was a database programmer, during the hot-tech years, I would hop jobs every 6 months to a year because the market was great and I was learning a lot at each new job. Even though I was used to moving around a lot, I did hit one job where I just wasn't very happy. I was hired on in the middle of some project changes. I had little to do. My boss was never around so I had nobody to talk to about my concerns. I tried to find things to do but it just wasn't always possible. I finally got very bored and looked to find a new job. I found one fairly quickly.
I think I was there for about 2 months.

I usually have a job expiry date of 6 months. Once I've picked up what needs to be done, I have a very hard time dragging myself into work. I prefer the learning mode.
Usually by seven months i end up walking out of a job, without notice. I realize that is a terrible thing to do for many reasons, but it's a part of my psyche I've had to learn to work around.
My last 'job' like that was at Petsmart, as a groomer. After I graduated from the six month academy program, i got increasingly more restless and left shortly thereafter. I'd also sit in the kennels with the dogs and cry most days...
I've learned that I just should not have a 'job' outside the home at all.

Jilly - that's ok too, as long as financea are not an issue - some people like to experiment, learn new skills and move on. Would they let you volunteer? (Ok the HR in me is about to come out so sorry in advance....lol...) much less paperwork and time for the hiring managers and hr if volunteering is an option...ok back to the "me" mode - sounds like FUN!!!

The basic reason which I found for this is that either people are working just to clear debt or they were hired for a wrong job (job not matching their likings, interest or skills). One need to identify a job of their own interest and skill for a better career opportunities.

I think more employees need to think of the initial probationary period as a two way thing. In my experience what you are told the job is and what it turns out to be often differs and often you need to work with people for a while before you know how the personalities and shop politics will affect your job. I think that it's really respectable to say, you know what, this just isn't a good fit for me.

Generally people faces the same problem in a company. Somewhere they were forced to do a job which gets different from what people think of. This is also one of the reason why people quit job frequently. But also this is the nature of business where one need to be flexible with job duties.
