I am doing a massive cleaning project in my office today because it's the only room with AC and it is 103F out. I have piles and piles of books. I am making them into three main piles:

* books I personally need to review for some reason
* books I can offer to editors to review
* old books of mine - I don't need to review, but we don't have an appropriate editor to send them to.

It's the third category that was sticking me. I don't want them in the house any more, but the local library is "full" and not taking books. I don't have an editor topic that would work to offer them to.

They're too "cheap" to try to sell on Amazon - i.e. these are paperback style books that normally sell for "one cent" on Amazon.

So I signed up for PaperBackSwap - an online swap site that lets you swap books around with other book lovers. It's free. Hopefully I'll get people wanting my books soon!

Has anyone else used this?

Thanks for the tip! I'm signing up too. I have quite a few paperbacks that I could swap.

I also sell my old books to Half Price book store. I don't get much for them but I can turn around and buy a few more books.

I've already gotten my first book from Paperback swap - they gave me two free credits just for listing my own books on there. This is a little low carb book that I can review and turn around and relist quickly.

That was quick - i loaded up some books and less than an hour later i have an order. So that will be three credits soon. I will report on how the mailing procedure goes - there is apparently a particular way to do it.

Wow, that's great Jilly! Congratulations!

I haven't had to mail a book out yet, so I'm interested in hearing what that's like!

Okay I sent my first book out. They have you print our a 'wrapper' that has the mailing addreses and associated into about the book swap. A few links on their tell you how to do this exactly for single paperbacks, several paperbacks, or hardcovers.

be prepared - you will need a lot of book tape (clear packing tape).

You have the choice of printing it out with postage already on it (that they have figured out), or to add your own stamps, or to bring to the post office. There is a fee for having them add postage to it, but if you use that option you get your cerdit right then and there.

I am not in any hurry to have an extra credit since I have not used my two free credits yet anyway. I printed the 'add my own postage' option, which is free.

I taped it up with the wrapper and A LOT of book tape. Now on Monday I just have to bring it to my post office.

When the recipient gets his book (media rate) then he will click my note to give me a credit.

I will now go add three more books. These bookswap things are being kept on their own bookshelf so i do not confuse them.
