On the 4th there having fireworks at the Stadium across the street from my house "Very close to home"
I'm afraid that Asia will get very scared frown
How do you comfort a frighten cat "with out getting scratched to shreds"
Should i let him find a hiding place and just leave him along
I don't want to make him more nervous then he will already be

Did you manage to get a little kennel for Asia, Rosie? If you put him in there with his favorite toys, blanket, pillow, or whatever, it may make him feel safe. If the kennel is in a room that will be quieter that will help also. Maybe turn on the radio to some pleasant music to mask some of the noise from outside. Knowing that you are near and not nervous will also help him. If you do not have a kennel, let him hide in the bedroom under the bed or in a closet and close the bedroom door.

Rose, when the men mow the grass my cats are extremely stressed. They find a place to hide until it's all over. One goes under the bed, the other jumps to the top of the kitchen cupboards.

I had Simba for a year before Rocky. Rocky was a very sick foster kitty that I took care of for Castaway Critters He was 4 weeks old when he came to me. By the time he was 12 weeks I couldn't bear to part with him so I adopted him. I never let him out with the big kitties when I wasn't around until he was able to fend for himself...about 4 months. Until then I was always around when they were together. By the time he was 4 months they were used to his smell and he's never known anything else.

Now, when I got Simba he was 10 months, Xena was 18 months old and queen bee of the house. I kept him in my bedroom with litter, food and water for the first week, letting them sniff each other under the door. Then, I started letting them together when I was home. It took about a month before I left them together for an hour, then I returned to see how it went. I kept increasing the time and I guess it was another month before I trusted leaving them together. They had their moments, but it generally went pretty good. Even today Rocky and Simba "get into it a bit" but that's natural with cats. Usually they sleep in close proximity.
