Does anyone have a Prayer Feather or Prayer Fan? I have seen some pictures of really pretty ones. A reader sent me an email asking about Prayer Feathers and what they are used for.

Does anyone have any information on this subject? He wants to find out as much as he can about them.

Prayer Feathers or Fans are used during smudging ceremonies. Some people just use a feather and others make or bead a special feather for the cleansing rite of smudging. I have made several and given as gifts.

When you make a Prayer Feather, do you attach beads onto leather lace? Do you use totem beads?

I ordered some imitation Eagle feathers. I want to wrap the quill in leather then attach leather lace to put my totem bead, pony beads and maybe a few jinglers. What do you think?
