It's been a year since I began healing my immune system by going after candida, a fungus that can grow out of control in your body. I decided to write an update on things I have learned. A candida infection is not easy to treat but worth the effort if you can restore your immune system, and lessen your allergies and upper respiratory issues. I've had trouble with this for almost 2 years after I had a tooth infection and was prescribed antibiotics. Boy was I sick! My stomach is much better now, but I've still got smaller problems. I've got some skin breakouts (minor) around my nose that are very hard to get rid of. I'm using probiotics daily, eating plain LAC yogurt and I also drink Pao D'arco tea. I have a supplement that has tea tree oil in it and perhaps this can be helpful but it's hard to take on account of the taste that tends to come back! At least now I can indulge in sweets once in a blue moon, but last year forget it. I'd get sick to my stomach in no time. Very nasty thing!

Glad to hear you are doing better. It gives me encouragement to continue keeping after it. It's definitely nasty stuff to get rid of.

How did you know you had this?

There are several ways to find out. One is to take a candida self-evaluation. Just search "candida symptoms or candida self test" for others. If your score on one of these evaluations indicates candida is likely, take it to your health-care professional. Keep in mind some doctors don't consider it a health issue. If you find one who is open to it, they may screen you through a stool sample or blood test to confirm it. Good luck!
