The big pow wow up here is Mawio'mi, which takes place in Halifax, Nova Scotia next weekend.

This year is the celebration of the baptism of Chief Membertou in 1610.

Watching the video and hearing his description of the feeling gave me shivers and I felt the deep spirituality of the dance.

I carry a bear in the circle as well, but only for grand entry, the flag song, veterans song and any honor songs they have at the beginning. Then I put him back in his basket that is lined with cedar.
