God says (through James) to ask Him for wisdom when we lack it. But there are, shall we say, guidelines. In Gifts, Waves, and the Rock I explore a bit what these guidelines mean for us wisdom-seekers.

I'm very grateful that a recent plea of mine for wisdom in an icky situation was answered in a far better way than I had envisioned. I just love it when He blows my tiny expectations out of the water. Has He done that for you lately?

Nope. But When I read about the THUNDERERS in the Bible it leaves me clueless and wondering - Why all the secrecy about them? What is their power and why doesn't GOD want us to know much about them? I mean there's only just one mention of them in the Book of Revelation and after they are mentioned all further talk of them is banished. Very strange, if you ask me.

It is strange, Silverwolf, like most of Revelation. All of my translations call them the seven thunders (that's Revelation 10:3-4). You might read Psalm 29, in which God thunders above the flood waters, and seven times His voice is said to render a judgment on the planet. In Revelation 10 it's a time of judgment also. After the flood, God gave us a rainbow as a symbol of His mercy, and in Revelation 10:1 the angel with the scroll is wearing a crown of rainbow. Dr. John Morris' commentary on the passage suggests that there may still, even then, be time for people to repent before the last destruction--and then in Rev. 10:6-7 we read "there will no longer be an interval of time, but in the days of the sound of the seventh angel, when he will blow his trumpet, then God's hidden plan will be completed, as he announced to His servants the prophets."

God is sovereign, and can certainly have His hidden plans if He chooses. Deuteronomy 29:29 says "The hidden things belong to the Lord our God, but the revealed things belong to us..." This tells me we should let the hidden things be, and focus on what has been revealed. Jesus came to earth, let us kill Him, and rose again to enable us to be reconciled with God. Let's make sure everyone hears that news and is invited to be part of it. Further explanations about the seven thunders will no doubt be given if and when we need them. Eventually all our questions will be answered.
