Lots of anger roiling around out there. How do we keep it from hurting us, and how should Christians respond to angry-making events? I've some ideas about that, jotted down in Angry, Angry Everywhere . How do you cultivate the peace that passes understanding?

I loved your article. Thank you. As Christians we cannot close our eyes I agree but what DO WE DO? First off I think we need to get Christmas and the 10 commanments back in the school. We are allowed to celebrate other religions but not the religion this country was founded on GOD. It is so sad. And you know I grew up going to church every Sunday plus Sun.school. and I was taught the 10 commandments. Everytime I thought of straying I thought of them. what do the children now a days have to teach them. Nothing. Including my grandchildren. My son just lets his 4 boys do what they want and they don't even know who Jesus is. If I try to say anything they get mad. I don't know what the answer is but again I loved your article.

Sarah,
I appreciate that some feel called to work to get prayer and Christian teaching back in the schools, just as some are called to be light and salt in a dark place by teaching in public schools. But the public school system is a government school system unsympathetic to God's agenda in any area and broken, in my opinion, beyond repair.
Best case scenario is to work to provide vibrant, healthy alternatives for children's education. Homeschooling is a wonderful adventure that I heartily recommend. A good Christian school (and there are bad ones and good ones out there)is a wonderful resource for parents and the whole community.
You bring up an excellent point: having God's word memorized is essential--it will pop into your head when you need it, helping you to make wise choices. Pray for your grandchildren, and always let Christ's love flow through you to them. Even if you are not allowed to name the Name of Jesus, they will eventually ask you about Him if they experience His love through you.
Thanks for reading!
