I love finding out who or what an old street is named for, you can discover all sorts of interesting bits of history.
I raised my children on Bartlett Street, and learned that it was laid out in the late 1900's and named for a baker in town who was famous for the excellence of his gingerbread.
Our summer cottage was on Wilson Road, named for a famous biologist of the early 20th century. Other streets in that neighborhood were also named for noted biologists like Jacques Loeb and F.R.Lillie.
Unfortunately newer streets around here are usually given dull, generic names with no local flavor.
