Hello Fellow Children's Writers!

There's a new article at the site:

A big "Thank You" to the reader who suggested this topic in our forum.

Do you have unique ways to overcome your writer's block? If so, please share them and I'll include them in a future column.

Until then...

When I have a block with the book I am writing, I stop for a couple of days and watch a couple of movies that goes along with he genre I am writing about and am able to get inspiration from it. Even if it takes my character(s) away from their main plotline for a moment.

For instance, I am presently working on a western genre novel and if I don't know where to take my character next, I will watch a couple of my cowboy movies and I may get inspiration from a cattle drive or something.

My character will then be asked to go on a drive or suddenly reminisce about a cattle drive he was on and then work my way back into the plot I was originally working on as it usually gives me time to think without interrupting my writing and suddenly I have a couple of extra pages of story that I didn't intend to have before, so it is a big plus.
