Do you suffer private anxieties? Do you pour them out to God?

I used to have a million fears and I would pray and pray. I would literally shiver in bed and keep awake all night long. Some were entirely irrational. Others were dark.

Once I accepted Christ, it seemed that my fears went away. I really no longer have any fears. I trust in His power and in His plan for us.

So glad to hear it. And you are so right to point out that prayers means nothing unless you have a relationship with Christ. Knowing the One hearing the prayer--that's the critical thing.
Some people have more trouble letting go of fear even after salvation. You just have to keep giving it back--take every thought captive to Jesus.
Also, sometimes your body chemistry/hormones make your fear and anxiety worse, especially women when hormones get out of whack. If anybody reading this thinks that might be an issue for them, consult a knowledgeable health practitioner about the possibility.

My fears are pretty rational every day things for survival. I came from a dysfunctional house so my hopes & dreams regarding survival were crushed. I hope that later when I was able to escape from the house God would see fit to help me out. I tried not to worry and just leave it up to Him and then the worrying comes back. I needed my hopes and dreams to come to fruition in my much earlier yrs to be able to live on my own and function but God has not stepped in. I'm in the process of trying not to worry again and just leave it to Him to handle. I am doing all that I can given the circumstances!! I ask God a lot why did you allow my father to be a dad!!! He had to right to be a parent or a husband on this earth. He had no right to be in my Mom's path either.

I see that you're functioning enough to use a computer, get online and figure out how to post to a forum--that's great! It sounds like your past is a heavy burden you bear, like many other people living on this fallen planet. Things are messed up now, for sure, but will all be put right. Meanwhile, focusing on a true relationship with Jesus will be your most powerful tool for figuring out how to live. Pray about that. Have you asked Him to save you, turned away from sin and dedicated yourself to following Him?

Sometimes you might not recognize God when He steps in to help. Have any people helped you to figure out a good next step in your life? Have you asked people for help figuring things out? If you don't have a church family, look for a good, Bible believing church to attend. Pay attention to the teaching, get to know the people, help where you can...being part of the Body of Christ is a huge source of help and encouragement in my life.

Let me know how you're doing...I'd be glad to talk with you some more about these things.

I used to have awful dreams reliving something that happened to me when I was younger. It was not a pleasant experience. I used to wake up screaming my brains out and my hubby would have to gently wake me up by words. He tried to touch me once and it only made it worse and I thought I would have a heartattack.

Since becoming a member of the church, trusting Christ and being baptized they have stopped. Thank you Jesus and I pray they never come back.

Linda

And even if they do, you know whose name to call to send them away. The name of Jesus is powerful in the mouth of his children.
