I have been buying the fibre craft 18" bendable muslin doll body from Michael's and Hobby Lobby but they are not available now. Does anyone know where I can get them?

Hi Flutedebbie,

If you are interested in making your own cloth doll bodies, we have an 18 inch cloth doll pattern available here on the doll making site. The link for the pattern article is Here.

I also found quite a few options if you want to buy the bodies by searching for "cloth doll bodies" on Google. I hope this helps.

Hi! I new to this sight, but I have a need you may be able to help with. I have about 50 sets of doll house size porcelain and chine doll heads, hands and feet. I want to surprise my mother with a set of dolls for her doll house for Christmas. Where can I find body patterns of ideas. I make lots of dolls, but they are never this small. One of the heads is stamped 1817. I have used pipe cleaners for the body and arms and legs, then wrapped them with either yarn or thin fabric strips until they are the right shape. Is this the correct way? Thanks, Gwyn

Hi Gwyn and welcome!

First, let me say that I don't think there is a wrong way to make a doll, if you are satisfied with the results. I did a little bit of online research and have found that yarn and fabric wrapped around a wire (or pipe cleaner) armature is absolutely correct. It is also possible to use cotton balls and/or small bits of quilt batting to do the job. If you are feeling creative you might also try sculpting the bodies in polymer clay, or air dry clay.

I'd love to see your finished dolls if you would like to show us some photos. Good luck.
