Spring finally feels like it's here, it's 50F at my house and I can open the windows! Hurrah!

I have friends coming over on Sunday. It's the first time in literally about a year that we've had visitors (besides my dad) because the house was so messy. I finally decided I had to get things clean enough for visitors. So I'm cleaning spot by spot.

It's so nice to have clean floors again!

Is anyone else doing spring cleaning? How is it going?

In my "eating area" (half of the kitchen with the table in it) I am finally down to one corner to clean, the liquor cabinet corner with all the random bottles of stuff. It's a challenge!

Congrats on your spring cleaning mood! There is just something about newly warm weather and the urge to clean - it's like awakening from hibernation.

I am all about cleaning off bottles. I hate glass bottles sitting out collecting dust. Fill a pail with warm soapy water and let the bottles sit a few minutes in it together. Then lift off each one and wipe down with a dish towel. Don't let them sit long enough to loosen the labels.

This is a lot easier and more effective than picking up each one to wipe down with a spray bottle, or whatever you might be doing. smile

You are so inspiring! I wasn't even thinking of cleaning them as much as there are too MANY of them and they are sprawled on the floor. So I was trying to figure out how to stuff them into the case. I think I'll clean them too while I'm at it! Thanks!

OK the liquor cabinet corner is now clean. I still couldn't stuff 7 bottles into it, but they are at least neatly lined up outside, and I wiped down the cabinet and floor.

Now to watch the birds for a few minutes, enjoy the sun and catch up on email, before I move on to the shoe pile!

I'm making good progress! The shoes and coats are done, I hand washed the wine glasses, and I refreshed all the smelly jellies and put them out. The kitchen is actually looking sort of clean!

Now to empty the dishwasher, start a new load, and then I think I can move on to the living room!

Congrats on getting so much done!

Are these Jeanne's Smelly Jellies? What scents do you have?

I have to clean my windows soon. The sliding glass door window is really grungy. I would have already but seem to be out of windex and nearly out of white vinegar, so that's on my list of spring cleaning chores.

These are my own smelly jellies. I was making my own smelly jellies years ago and I'm the one who encouraged Jeanne to give it a try once I documented the process smile They are so easy to make, and great!

Bob loves lemon, and I love lavender. So those are the two scents I made.

I am finally getting myself motivated this morning. I think I'm worn out from all the cleaning work I put in yesterday. Bob is off playing golf which I'm sure doesn't help since most of what is left in the living room and kitchen is his stuff. It irks me to clean his stuff after I spent so much time cleaning all my stuff and the common areas.

But there you have it.

OK. Step 1 - vacuum and steam clean the living room carpet. That is going to need time to dry.

Does Bob see the kitchen as mostly his domain?

Yes, he does all the cooking. But I do all the cleaning of cooking tasks.

OK yes I gave in. I scrubbed down the remaining kitchen counter areas so they are now clean. Bob didn't get home until 5pm (we have guests at 6pm) meaning I barely have time for a shower and such! It's always exciting smile

Still it is nice to HAVE it clean, however it got that way. That was the only real remaining messy area in the kitchen.

Enjoy your gleaming kitchen, good friends and fine wines :-)

I am floor scrubbing, counter cleaning and dusting today. Then I will add some nice lemon oil to the wood cabinets to feed them and make my hands nice.

I did get both parts of the kitchen (the cooking area and the eating area) all clean so that makes me very happy smile And that's where we sat all night, so that's all that mattered. In the end it worked out!

Oh, yes that spring cleaning comes again. I've been busy doing windows and cleaning out closets. I painted our pantry yesterday, and going to put everything back in. Had a water leak between the walls in the pantry. Had to have that fixed and sheetrocked again. This threw me off for 1 week, but at least I finally get to put everything back in the pantry again. Then I will be able to see my countertops and kitchen again. We have had some really nice days here in the Houston, TX area so I've been trying to get out and do the yard work also. Good Luck on your spring cleaning!

That is great that you were able to get the pantry all clean and set again!

The kitchen is still fairly clean, I'm working hard to keep it in good shape!

Along these lines, it was nice enough out that we were able to paint the bathroom floor this morning in the RV and keep all the windows wide while we went out to watch the movies for RunPee. We came back and everything was nice and dry and so pretty!

Spring is great for getting projects done!
