A great focus for the new year is to drink more water. This is healthy for pretty much everyone!

I keep a large glass on my desk so it's within reach.

Are you able to keep water near you?

I have a 2l container at work that I make it a mission to get through every day (sometimes I drink more - depends on how hot and humid it gets).

Did you know that by the time you feel thirsty, that you are already dehydrated - and often hunger pangs are a sign of dehydration.

I can't keep it near me b/c I'm a clutz. I always keep a glass on top of the fridge. That way it encourages me to get up from the computer.

My drinking water goals are based on some ideas that I read about recently: 1. Drink a LARGE glass of water 20 minutes before each meal. You'll feel less like overeating, or your serve of food will satisfy you more. 2. Have one day a week where you consume drinks that contain NO calories, such as herbal tea, soda water, or plain water. Over time this will add up. I aim to do both of the above, and I may add another calorie-free liquid day as well.

I've recently started carrying a bottle of water around all the time. Even have one on the night stand. Started this when I was recovering from my TKR surgery.

For people who are klutzy, I have several friends who use travel mugs for their water. That way they have the water nearby but they are also safe from spills.

I definitely agree with the idea of finding ways to get up and move around at least every hour - but I suppose I would not tie them to water. Because if water is a pain, it means you could put it off for a while until you're "really thirsty" which isn't good.

I keep a gallon of RO water right by my computer, and another one by my bedside, so I always have as much water as I want. smile

That is excellent Jilly, you are an inspiration for us!

Do you find a gallon to be heavy? I am thinking about a gallon of milk and that seems like a lot to me. I go for large glasses, but I'm not sure where I would put a gallon jug.
