My oldest is a Sr in high school this year, and they just got their graduation announcements/invites packets at school day before yesterday.
So on the way to school yesterday Michael goes, "Mom, I want to send as many announcements as possible so I can get more money".
And I go, "WHAT?!?"
He says, "That's what the guy giving us the graduation packets told us. To order and send as many as possible, because the more we hand out the more money we get. He said we get about $25 for each announcement we hand out."
Now understand, Michael is the one with Asperger's, so I thought maybe he heard it wrong. I asked him did he mean that they were supposed to help hand out the packets to other Seniors. and he said "no, the guy said that some people will give us presents, but most people will give us money - about $25 so I want to hand out as many as possible. He said that is what we should do."
I am
furious that Jostens would use such a sales pitch on high school kids - especially since it is only the kids they talk to and the parents are not at the school when they give this little "informational speech".
I had to explain to Michael that this would be the equivalent of sending birthday party invitations to people he didn't want to come ot his party, just so he could get presents. That you only send announcements to people you truly care about and want to have as part of celelbrating your graduation with you.
I am giving serious consideration to calling Jostens - except that the sales rep would probably get a pat on the back!
