I've run through Michael Jecks and Ellis Peters and pretty much all of the mysteries set in abbeys and monasteries and cloisters. I feel like I've done Rome to death, although I really liked Kelli Stanley's Nox Dormendia, Ditto for the Middle Ages. I'm thinking...it's time to move on to the Renaissance. Any mysteries you can recommend about the Medicis? Machiavelli? Or later. I really like Barbara Hambley and books like A Faded Coat of Blue.

Would love your suggestions.

Thanks for these--I'll have to hunt them down in the library. With the holidays coming, I'm looking forward to a litlte down time for reading.

Has anyone read any of these historical mysteries? They seem like cozy mysteries with historical themes.

I've been doing freelance writing for quite a few years and have been thinking of going back to fiction. I had an idea of a mystery series about a woman who runs a local historical society.

I'd like to read some related mysteries that are out to see how other authors are handling these topics and wondered if any of these were good.

Thanks!

I have a book I'm about ready to read/review called The Wandering Heart by Mary Malloy. It's a time travel mystery back to the Crusades. It is also described as a forensic thriller. You might find this book interesting.

Thanks Edie, I'll put that one on my list. Can't wait to read your review.
