This is a terrible terrible thing if this passes. Homosexuality is already illegal in Uganda. As the law stands right now, people have to practically be caught in the act in order to be prosecuted and the punishment isn't as severe as what is in this current bill. So the claim is they are simply tightening up the law to more easily prosecute people.
It always scares me when a group of people are singled out and rounded up for whatever reason.
Interestingly, South Africa legalized gay marriage in December 2006. They are the first African country to do so.
