Hi, I am new this this forum, and in fact any posted on line group, so I hope and I doing this correctly. I am interested in a pattern for a cloth doll that has a dart in the forehead all the way to the nose, but not down the mouth. In other words, looking for a little shape in a cloth doll face without the seam down the centre of the face. It just seams wrong to have a seam right down a face. I would love to hear from anyone who knows about these patterns.

Hi HelenEleanor,

Welcome to the Doll Making Forum!

Are you looking for a pattern that you have already seen or is it an idea that you had and would like someone to design it?

Hello, I saw the pattern in a doll kit in a thrift store and looked carefully at it, but some strange reason, not like me, I decided not to buy it. The pattern had a dart like seam to the end of the noise and two darts to shape the neck. The kit contained an already cut out doll, a scrap for the clothes, hair, and a book describing how to sew the doll. Don't remember the name of it or doll designer. I went back the next week to buy it, but it was gone. I thought the kit was overpriced at the time. It probably wasn't. Sincerely Helen

Thank you Rosie, I am sure I will love this site, as I love all things doll and decided I am mature enough to admit it. I am not usually mature as I find it boring. I am older if you know what I mean, but mature hmmm. don't think so.

Hi again, HelenEleanor,

I've spent some time online, researching cloth doll patterns and kits. I have been unable to find any with darts in the face. Many of the designs I saw had 3 dimensional faces from needle sculpting. If you are interested in trying this technique I wrote a review of a book that teaches it. You can find my review here: Cloth Dolls by Brenda Brightmore

If anyone else has seen the doll kit that HelenEleanor is referring to, please help us with some info. Thanks in advance.

Hi Narrawallee,

Do you still have the number of the pattern? Sometimes vintage patterns are available online.

Thank-you for the assistance!
