Okay, I don't really have an "empty nest". All three of my children are in school all day now, though. They only started school two days ago. I have a tenth grader, a fifth grader, and a first grader. I'm having a hard time with this. I enjoyed the preschool years so much maybe I enjoyed them too much. Anybody else out there having a hard time with this ?

Some women very much cherish their roles as mothers. They also deeply identify themselves this way.

The direction of your life has changed and you have to adjust to that. Nothing at all wrong with this in my opinion as long as you do make the adjustment.

Do you have enriching activities to fill your time and fulfill you?

My kids have only been in school for 4 days so reality is just sinking in! I knew this would be a transition. I had a long talk with my husband the other night and that helped. I have had alot of things the last couple years that I've been dealing with. My father became ill and passed away, my step-father passed away 6 wks b4 that, helping my mother through this adjustment, and I had a much needed hysterectomy (wanted one more child though). That pretty much explains it. I've done alot of crying and praying. I am feeling like things are starting to even out and I am adjusting to all of these changes. :rolling: Thanks for the input.

Well, my sister hated the "empty nest" syndrome so much she got pregnant again at 38. She is thrilled and is due next month. We are having her baby shower Sun. because she had gotten rid of everything (her youngest is 12) We are really looking forward to the birth of this little one.
