Our library hosted the digital bookmobile today. That's the huge 23ft truck that visits the librarys bringing the display about the new wave of book reading otherwise known as e-books.
I thought it would be interesting to find out what others thought. Do you think that digital libraries will start to take the place of brick and mortar buildings?
Do you prefer reading your books hardcopy or read them on the computer or listen on the IPOD?
Brick and mortar libraries are not in danger. We too have a NetLibrary subscription that is wonderful. I can download audiobooks to my Ipod. Patrons can also access a number of books available in electronic format.
The big thing to remember is that about 50% of the population doesn't have access to the Internet or computers outside of the library. In most of my county only dial-up is available.
