I cannot envisage going to a coffee shop before breakfast. Is it breakfast time only the idea of a bikini offends?

Another think, all the coffee shops I have been in have counters and the staff could be wearing anything from the waist down.

Okay Peter, I can see you are very literal. My observations were "tongue-in-cheek" so to speak--not literal of course.

In all honesty, I think it is totally ridiculous ANY time of day and just a ridiculous idea to apply to a coffee shop. Free coffee and newspaper with breakfast may have been a good one. It may have allowed you to keep your current customers and bring in some new ones.

Btw, coffee shops in my world have tables and counters.

Seems a risky business strategy. OK, beauties in bikinis may attract male customers -- but not all men, and they are likely to put off the 50% of the population who aren't male.

As a man, I wouldn't go. I'd be embarrassed and also irritated that they think I'm so shallow they can get my custom by appealing to my sexual leanings rather than my desire for coffee.

Interested to hear how they get round equal employment laws.

I went to a bar that had the servers in bikinis - didn't bother me. They don't have to work there. People don't have to go there.
