Petite Sirah is a grape grown mostly in California. There are also plantings in Australia where it is known at Durif and South Africa has just released their first made by Fairview winery -- the people behind the Goats do Roam range.
I picked up this Bogle Vineyards Petite Sirah 2005 at the liquor store next to the Howard Johnson's hotel I'm staying at in Tampa, Florida.
It has some age on it probably because it is a variety unfamiliar to most and that is also probably a reason it was discounted to $9.99. I think Petite Sirah (PS) benefits from a little aging.
If you like distinctive intensely flavored reds, then give PS a try.
This Bogle is giving me flavors of dark chocolate and blueberries and I'm greatly enjoying it as I type this.
Have you tried PS?
