Hi It's very windy today here in the UK, the first time the weather's been so bad since I started wearing my hearing aid and I never knew just how much harder it would be to hear in such conditions. The noise of the wind in my hearing aid is tremendous & it actually hurt my ear so I had to turn my aid off, which meant I couldn't hear what someone was saying! Anybody got any advice on how to cope with hearing aids in such conditions? Ian

Hi Ian
It is an unfortunate issue with hearing devices that the microphones pick up the wind. You can get wind covers for some of them - depends on the type and size of hearing aid. You can wear ear protection. We women grow our hair to cover the aid and this helps with the wind noise. The only way I really know of is (1) stay out of the wind (smirk) (2) try to position your head (and yourself) so the wind isn't reaching the aid.
