Is anyone else bothered by the support that Roman Polanski is receiving in regards to his rape charge? He was convicted of unlawful sexual intercourse of a minor as he plied a thirteen year old girl with champagne and Quaaludes when he was 44. He fled the country before he served his time and has lived a life of luxury to include winning an Oscar in 2003 for "Thee Pianist" that was accepted by Harrison Ford.

He was finally caught and arrested in Switzerland and now Hollywood is petitioning for his release. Directors like Martin Scorcese and Woody Allen are behind him as well.

I think its disgusting and he should be extradited to the US to serve his time. What do you think?

I agree with you Vance! I am bothered by it and the support he is getting! He did do the crime and now he needs to do the time!
He like no other sentenced criminal was able to continue to make $$$! It is astonishing!

I agree - he committed a grevious crime and then jumped bail before sentencing. It is my understanding though that there are many voices coming out of Hollywood now not speaking on his behalf.

And what about Letterman? His ratings soared after his 'confession.'

Well Angie, I know that none of Letterman's trysts were underage & at this point we are pretty sure they were both(or all as the case may be)conscentual. So to compare the two would be like apples and oranges-not the same.

In Polanski's case she was 13, not able to give consent, and was also given drugs and alcohol so many wrongs all in one!
They are now saying that one of the cops was fudging evidence now!(watch him get away with a technicality! I hope not!

I didn't mean it in that sense - I was thinking that some of these celebrities who go a bit far and/or criticize others do not believe lard is greasy.

Polanski's case is pretty awful. Guilty is guilty and he is. He plead guilty and then bailed.

Here's an interesting article.

Entertainment Weekly had a good editorial about not weeping for Roman Polanski and taking many in Hollywood to task for their attitude.

we're politically correct and too tolerant. we make excuses for people and enable them to continue on their merry way.

If that was just the average Joe, you can bet your bottom dollar he would have been shackled and buried under the jail.
