I seem to be finding that I journal more in the winter months, and less in the summer months. Maybe I have more to do outside in the summer? Maybe I feel like "nesting" more in the winter? I'm curious!

Do you have certain months you journal more in?

Too funny, I was just contemplating this very topic, as I do every year in the fall.

I journal year round, but I find that my fall and winter entries tend to be more of the art journal type, while warmer months lead to shorter daily activity logs.

I definitely have more to do outside in the summer months. I feel that I have to take advantage of so much daylight!

In the winter, I end to get more introspective, as well as more creative and crafty. My journals reflect that. Every summer, I promise to take more time with journals, but it never happens. Instead, I scrapbook vacation memories in the winter months.

My paper journals are lined up on a shelf. You can tell which ones are from which seasons, as the warm months have straight spines and are relatively unworn on the outside. The Fall and Winter journals are for the most part homemade and have ephemera, found objects, ribbons, and other embellishments crowding them and sticking out of the edges. I think they look more interesting, but then again, I am a very tactile person. My OCD niece hates them because they aren't tidy.

The same applies to my online journals. The summer months are very sparse, while the winter months have almost daily entries.

I journal a LOT in the fall. because I hate fall. I have never liked fall. All my sad things like losing people have happened in the fall. It's cold, it's creepy, it makes everything hurt more and everything dies and it only serves to usher in creepy old miserable uncomfortable winter. But I know there isn't a thing I can do about it, of course; just muddle through it, griping all the way to my faithful journal friend, and

...

HEY!!!!

I got promoted!

I'm not a newbie any more!!

I tend to journal in the winter because it is a time of reflection. I also begin to prepare for the new year by writing down where I've been and where I plan to be - things to accomplish, goals to achieve, relationships to be mended, etc. I think it's just a sentimental time of the year.

hi, i have always kept journals, being the youngest of 4 kids, but having large age differences,i was basically an only child..my journals were my way of escaping.i guess i started around the age of 9,maybe 10. but, at 36 i became ill during my last pregnancy, but the doctors kept telling me,i was fine.. it's all in your head, they said.but, who knows their own body betterthan a NURSE.after,2 long grueling yrs.of poking and proding, they still looked at me as though i was nuts. my boss[an RN], is the one who told me she thought she knew what was wrong with me.and she was right, i have a rare neurological disease, in which it kills a part of the brain that produces a chemical called "hypocretin".you need this chemical for your body and brain to work together or function together at the same time. they compare it to MS and Parkinson's. it controls you even with meds. the list of problems goes on forever.so i am constantly writing in my journals at least every other day.....

I guess I tend to journal more in the winter as well. I t3end to get ready for the new year around this time and spend a lot of time reflecting upon the year to come. I'm going to be 50 and it seems like it should be a year of potential for myself.

Lynn Ann, I think you are right.

I found that 50 just feels different. Not bad or particularly good in itself, just different.

Gives me a lot to write about, I'll say that.
