According to estimates, Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo opened at #9 at the U.S. box office this weekend. The film, which screened at 927 theaters, grossed roughly $3.5 million in its opening weekend.

Ponyo is now the 8th highest grossing theatrical anime release in the U.S.

Ponyo earned an estimated $2,429,000 during the August 21-23 weekend. In its second week in US theaters, the movie falls from #9 to #12. Ticket sales dropped 32.3% from last weekend.

Currently, Ponyo has grossed an estimated $8,140,000, which makes it the seventh highest grossing theatrical anime release in the U.S.

With a current estimated total gross of $14,362,000, Ponyo is still the fifth highest grossing theatrical anime release in the United States.

Ponyo grossed an estimated $176,000 in U.S. theaters during the September 18-20 weekend, and ticket sales fell 72% from last weekend. With a current total estimated gross of $14,644,000, Ponyo remains the fifth highest grossing theatrical anime in the U.S.
