I was at work and the department next door had the news on. It was shocking to see the first airplane crash into the building but at first we thought it was an accident. The moment the second plane crashed into the building, we knew it was no accident. The scenes in NYC were horrific. Having grown up there and worked in Manhattan at one time, it was heartbreaking.
What is sad is that we have been defeated there. We have not been able to come to a consensus on how to rebuild a new building, and how to rebuild our lives there. A new building could be called the Freedom Building and have a special memorial in front. I was a bit surprised at some photos I saw depicting the future of the site.
No matter what we do, we should not forget what happened. The event changed our lives here.
