Surprising news. The SA authorities are allowing the planting of a trial vineyard of genetically modifed vines, not in an out of the way place but in Stellenbosch, the heartland of the SA wine industry.

Anyone whose been to those beautiful winelands will know how much land is covered with vineyards there and it seems a brave/foolhardy/confident/complacent/dangerous* act to plant a GM trial in the midst.
