Have you ever worked with the old newspapers and done abstracts? I would really like to do that. I love looking at old newspapers and the stories.

No, but like you think it would be interesting. Wish I had the time... Tina

Tina, I lifted this from another list:

Just so you know, DLG (Digital Library of Georgia) has Sanborn maps online up to 1923 for most places in Georgia

The Digital Library of Georgia and its partners have recently released several new digital collections as part of the
Georgia HomePLACE initiative that may be of interest to SGA members:

Milledgeville Historic Newspapers Archive, 1808-1920 Milledgeville papers

Columbus Enquirer, 1828-1890 Columbus GA paper

Macon Telegraph, 1826-1908
Macon Telegraph

(These newspaper databases require a one-time free plug-in download to view images.)

Just to get you started. There are photograph collections too.

I saw this as I have GA reseach for my step mom. But, I overlooked about the Sanborn maps. I'll have to go back and review again.

Thanks!

I enjoyed my weekend reading the papers. The Macon Telegraph provided me with the best coverage of a story about my ancestor and a beaver.

That would be cool to read stories about your ancestor. So , far, I've not found any major articles, but little mentiones which excited me as well.

Every little tidbit is a wonderful addition to an ancestor's story.
