Jeanette have you seen that our state of IL is shutting down an intregal shelter? No state funds- The Mutaual Ground Shelter is shut, and was turning away women b/c they have no state funding?

It is awful!

Jeanette, I am relieved I heard that the Mutual Ground shelter has scraped together some money!!!
I do not know the full story, I will let you know when I get the local news!

I am getting emails from all over the country about shelters closing and asking if I know of other resources for people. it is a real shame this is happening! Money is so tight with everyone. I have had to cut back volunteer hours myself to work more to make ends meet. I am crossing my fingers that with this new advisor to the White House will help prevent shelters from closing. We need all of the ones we have!

The United Way is so awesome! When we have our fundraiser at my work, I make sure to donate through my paycheck and we collect pocket change for about 2 weeks and send a check to them. When I was homeless because of my situation, United Way 211 was the first number I called and they got me in touch with people which eventually led to me getting temporary housing for me and the kids. So if you can donate to a worthy cause, thing of the United way first!
