Hi I am craftycarla on ravelry. I love it already and I am just getting started. A great bunch of people. I love all the resources available. Hope to see you all over there.
I have a question. How can I prevent the hem of a knitted garment from curling up. It cannot be blocked as I used a synthetic yarn, not wool. I ribbed with the same size needle as the body. Could this be the reason for the curling?
Hi, I've trying getting the garment damp and then wrapping around a paper towel tube or wooden dowel going in the opposite direction it wants to curl. That helps a lot, even with synthetic yarns and sometimes just a little bit of steam.
I do think the smaller needles will help, plus when you seam the item and put it on, the stretch will probably keep it from flipping up. (I checked it out on the Ravelry discussion boards and the consensus there was the ribbing won't flip once the sweater is assembled and worn)
