There are quite a few movies out this year that are based on books. Several movies just out or coming later this year are based on mystery books or short stories:
Public Enemies . Based on the book by Vanity Fair correspondent Bryan Burrough, this true-crime novel about John Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd and J Edgar Hoover stars Johnny Depp as Dillinger and Christian Bale as the FBI's Melvin Pervis. Directed by Michael Mann.
Shutter Island . Written by Dennis Lehane, the movie is directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley and Emily Mortimer.
Sherlock Holmes . Based on the short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the movie is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Robert Downey, Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Dr. Watson.
All three have very good actors and directors involved - sounds like must-see movies to me!
