One of the neatest things I've found about keeping a journal is the opportunity to rant. You can write all the nice little diatribes you can't or don't want to share with the world for various reasons. Off course, nowadays it seems like everyone has a blog, and what is a blog but one's very own soapbox? Some of us, however, were into these bloglike rants long before blog was a word at all! The Soapbox makes for many nice journal prompts. There you are, on your soapbox. It's a street corner in a busy city... picture a bustling movie scene in a 1930s black-and-white movie. As the streetcars clang their way past, your audience starts to accumulate. What do you want to tell the world?

Oh, well................

Now you know why I do not do journaling prompts. People shrug or yawn.

I suppose I am not much of a ranting person, or at least I do not think of myself in that way smile For my own lifestyle, I would not want to work myself up in a lather about it to be ranting about it, because I try to take the calm, quiet path in life. I understand that all people are different!

So I suppose rather than ranting, my idea image would be me on a grassy hill by a lovely lake, surrounded by people on blankets, with glasses of wine, plates of cheese, and we are all talking about ways to improve the community. That would be my "getting a message to the people" imagery.

Lisa, I like that grassy hill with wine image! Can I come? Oh, wait...sounds like a gathering idea!

Dox, i like the idea of a 1930's street corner fantasy. What would I tell the world? I guess I'd try to talk about loving others, developing compassion, being creative, trying to live a meaningful life.

I love that idea, too, Jilly!

Of course, getting people to listen... really listen.... that's a whole 'nother fantasy itself!
