How many of you bask in the sun or fake tan?

I know I feel self conscious about my Casper the Ghost paleness so I fake & bake just enough to have slight color.

Do you tan? How concerned are you about sun safety?

I tan, spray tan, and naturally tan... depends on the situation and time.

At our spa we use Fantasy Tan, the same stuff they use on Dancing with the Stars.

If I go in a bed, I do no more than the 12 minutes that is considered safe in a lay down bed, or 7 minutes in the stand up.

I do no more than 3 times a week as well.

I used to used tanning beds and booths and I used to bask in the sun with the intention of getting a tan. I saw my skin change after I started getting tanned so I stopped. I will not use any booth or beds. I don't consider them safe at any exposure - too close and too strong.

When I start feeling really pale, I use spray on tan. Thank goodness they don't turn us orange any more. smile When we go on vacation - to a sunny location - I do enjoy the sun but I don't do the extended exposure any more.

Last year, I went to Florida and used Arbonne Made in the Shade. It is a self-tanner with an 18(I think) SPF. It goes on like nourishing oil. I got the best tan I have ever had and my skin didn't feel dry.

I am very pale naturally and it borders on anemic looking SO, yes, I tan when I can in the sun with LOTS of moisturizers. I do go to tanning bed on occassion and sometimes will also use a self tanning lotion. The new ones by Jergens are very subtle. I use that about twice a week right now til I can get out in the sun for real. I don't use any SPF, I believe it causes cancer. Believe what you like but that's how I feel. The sun gives us life, not death.

I'm Black and I love to tan. I think I look better with a darker, browner hue. I use a low level SPF, but have thought about the tanning salon.

I do sit in the sun but with a high spf. I have pale skin and auburn hair so, I have to use a sunblock when out anyway.I do find that the sun does make me feel happier. A bright day can brighten a bad mood lol!
I did use sun booths for the first time last year before I went on holiday to try to top up. I didn't find much of a difference and found that walking around in the sun helped.

If you go for Fake Tan, to avoid going orange, don't apply fake tan straight after a shower, wait for 40mins ,exfoliate and moisturise first. Remember wear gloves when applying lotions or your hands , otherwise it will go darker than the rest of you.

I'm trying to avoid the tanning parlors I'd rather do it in my backyard/the beach. One of the biggest issues to be concerned with is safety. Tanning is an option rather than necessity.

Yes, in the UK, the South West-Cornwall and Devon is the skin cancer capital unfortunately.

I do not. I like to lay in the sun but the times I did it (been years since i did it) I never got a tan. I hate the color fake tans give, it looks much better to be white like a ghost instead of orange like a carrot. If one day I get a pool I will spend way much time outside so I may get a tan there but something else I hate are tan lines so I would be stuck with these since there's no way I can go outside naked with an highway right behind my house and tourists going to the beach in front.
