According to recent news coming out of France, House star Hugh Laurie has written a mystery that topped March book sales in France.

His spy spoof, The Gun Seller, is about an ex-soldier, Thomas Lang, who is drawn unwillingly into a James Bond-like plot of international terror and arms deals.

The book was released in France in January, where his TV series is widely popular.

Laurie said that he is still working to turn the book into a feature film. Let's hope the book also becomes available in the U.S.

Do you ever pick up a novel just because the author is famous? Are you more, or less, interested if the novel is outside of their area of expertise?

Yes, I like to think that famous people in one art form are perhaps talented in more of the array...

I can't wait to read Hugh Laurie's book in English.

I like his acting in the character 'House' which tackles difficult and controversial issues.

Thanks Joanna!

Here is the Amazon link to The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie

By the looks of it, this book was published in 1998. The recent article I read sounded like he had only published it in England and France. I'm glad to see it available here also.

If anyone has read The Gun Seller, please let us know how you liked it.

Loved Hugh Laurie as Wooster in the Jeeves and Wooster shows. Also, he was very funny in Black Adder. I don't watch House, so can't comment on that.

As for your question... Nope, I don't think that a person's celebrity would influence me in the least when deciding whether or not I want to read a book.
