I have parsley in a pot and I have clipped it and used it but it is getting leggy and wants to bloom and the lower leaves are aging out. It did get very hot here and we had a lot of rain. Do you think the combination of the two problems are causing the plant to age out on me. It almost looks like it is the end of the season for it.

Yes, end of season. I have never had any good luck with trying to bring in herbs in the fall to have over the winter. If I can actually get them to survive, they are spindly and do not look happy. It's really not worth the hassle. If you let the plant go to seed, you can replant it and start over again!

Hello, I can't tell from your post if the parsley is indoors or outdoors in a pot! However,no matter where it is the parsley will like lots of direct sunlight and a rich soil. The pot must be well drained and the plant well watered with a little organic feed once a month. If the tap root dries out your plant will not do well. Also if the your plant is large the tap root may be too long for the pot you have it in. To encourage new lush growth you have to snip the plant down usually in sections or it will get spindly. In very warm temperatures herbs tend to go to seed faster and the only thing you can really do is put it in partial shade to slow the process. I hope this helps.

Last year I tried something different, I cut off all my herbs, brought them into the house. Cut them off the stem cleaned them good. Stuck them into little freezer bags and quickly froze them. They turned out wonderful. I just grab some out of the bag and get the bag back in the freeze pronto. Worked so well, I did it again this year.

You can plant it on and indoor setting. But in needs at least 5 hours of sunlight a day. This was the technique I tried when I tried to grow them. You will learn them by checking or asking few other experts online that helped me grow them. ---------- growing herbs indoors ----------

Our house is divided into two parts, my daughter and her husband have the "sunny half" all my plants died. I bought a plant light and mini green house but it is so cold downstairs those plants froze. Any herbs like icy shade?
